Mom: I’m guessing you’re not going to the Giants parade.
Me: No.
Mom: When I was living in Philly with your dad, either the Phillies or the Eagles won and it was pretty crazy.
Me: Was it when the Phillies won the World Series in 1980?
Beat.
Mom: Am I talking to my daughter? Hello? Is this Alison Bennett?
Me: WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME?
Mom: I don’t know! (mocking me) “Was it when the Phillies won in 1980?”
Me: He just talks and talks and sometimes I absorb it! WHY?!
Mom: I have to say: I am shocked right now.
